Join us in support of a vital (C)PET Project

Over the next few weeks, Voice Logic, a well-respected firm with an excellent reputation, is making telephone calls to our valued donors on our behalf. We want you to know these calls are genuine and that all gifts support St. Boniface Hospital.

St. Boniface Hospital Foundation is running a special campaign for the Hospital’s most urgent needs – including an upgrade to Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) equipment.

It’s no mere pet project.

To help us reach our $100,000 fundraising goal, Canadian Pacific (CP) is matching all new monthly donations in support of the Hospital’s greatest needs, up to a total of $50,000. This would ensure we can fully fund the CPET equipment in 2021. The generous matching gift is an element of CP’s recently announced $100,000 contribution in support of cardiac care and research at St. Boniface Hospital.

The main purpose of CPET is to carefully measure how a person’s lungs, heart, blood vessels, and muscles perform during an exercise challenge. The CPET equipment is critically important in assessing diseases like congenital heart disease and heart failure.

Right now, the Hospital is using treadmill-based CPET equipment. The time has come to replace it with newer, cycle-based equipment – the current standard and a safer and more accessible method for patients.

The new equipment has many advantages. It will enable a single, skilled respiratory therapist to conduct CPET more accurately. It will expand testing availability. Improved software and physician inputs will promote standardized testing protocols and reporting formats, leading to improvements in clinical decisions. All of this means better care for patients with failing hearts and lungs, and other conditions.

Help CPET patients benefit from accurate, safer, and more-accurate testing, greater availability of testing, and improved clinical care. Make a monthly donation today.
