St. Boniface Hospital Foundation is grateful to Order Sons and Daughters of Italy, Garibaldi Lodge, for making us the charity of choice for their sold-out 35th Annual Gala on March 18th at the RBC Convention Centre.
Approximately 1,300 guests enjoyed a glamorous night out with fine dining and dancing to Winnipeg’s Big City All-Star Band, among other live entertainers and speakers.
Most importantly, guests helped the Sons and Daughters of Italy to raise an astounding $270,000 for research funding at St. Boniface Hospital’s Albrechtsen Research Centre. Their generous support will help St. Boniface Hospital to establish a dedicated research program in women’s heart health in the heart of our province.
Every 22 minutes, a Canadian woman dies of a heart attack. Heart disease is the number one killer of women in Canada. It affects women of all ages. In many cases, it is avoidable.
Although women make up about half of our population, research does not yet equally represent them.
Closing this knowledge gap is one way to ensure better outcomes for women with cardiovascular disease.
