St. Boniface Hospital Foundation has become the first hospital charity in Manitoba to be awarded accreditation by Imagine Canada, a national organization which evaluates charities to ensure they have the necessary financial and human resources in place to achieve real impact.
In bestowing this accreditation, Imagine Canada has recognized the Foundation’s strength in five fundamental areas: board governance, financial accountability and transparency, fundraising, staff management, and volunteer involvement.
“It’s no small feat for an organization to earn Standards Program accreditation,” says Bruce MacDonald, President and CEO of Imagine Canada. “It’s a rigorous, peer-reviewed process that is meant to build public trust and confidence in the charitable sector. These organizations take accountability and operational transparency very seriously. We’re glad to have them on board.”
“For us, accreditation is all about confidence and integrity. With accreditation, new donors can be assured – and existing donors can be re-assured – that we meet the highest possible performance standards for Canadian charities,” says Chuck LaFlèche, President & CEO, St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.
“Effective standards frameworks, like the ones Imagine Canada have created, make organizations perform even better. Our pursuit of accreditation demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement.”
