Run2Believe 4.0 The Virtual Edition was a big success.
With participants, sponsors, supporters, and organizers all giving a great effort, the event achieved its $20,000 fundraising goal. Net proceeds from Run2Believe Winnipeg support life-saving patient care and ground-breaking medical research at St. Boniface Hospital.
A St. Boniface tradition since 2017, Run2Believe this year gave participants the discretion to do a run on their own within a given timeframe between September 15 and 26, either on the official course route or a route of their choosing. As in years past, runners still received their much-loved event garb, including their medals.
Bob Moore, also known as Bicycle Bob, was the top fundraiser, bringing in $4,000. Moore, 75, of Killarney, cycled 85 kilometres.
“I just love being out there on my bike. It gives my mind a break, and I find it therapeutic to be out there. I was lucky, because the wind was mostly behind me. It was fun.”
Race kits included water from World of Water and protein bars by Clif Bars. Dream Boot Camp, Fit Club and Insahyu Training and Therapy provided exercises, warm-up and cool-down routines for runners.
Special thanks to sponsors Red River Co-op (Platinum), Baxter Corporation (Gold), 4L Communications (Bronze), and Payworks (Bronze). Special thanks as well to Champion Productions and run coordinator Suzett Mongru.
